History

In 1984, through the initiative of Rev. Fr. Virgilio Mendoza, with the help offered by the Cannossian Sisters, and because of the support from Rev. Fr. Sebastian Butterhoff, the Parish of Nuestra Señora de Guia held formal classes with twenty-five pupils guided by their first teacher, Mrs. Adoracion Ogot. The Little Angels Kindergarten was launched in 1986 and the blessing of the first two classrooms was held. Then, the school was finally recognized by the government on May 10, 1991. It was then named as Little Angels Learning Center.

In the year 1994, the Grade One level was also established and a ground breaking ceremony for the construction of additional rooms for the Elementary School building was held. It was led by Bishop Manuel Sobreviñas. Since then, the school has become a part of Magallanes community.

In 1997, the school was named after Nuestra Señora de Guia, the Patroness of Magallanes, Cavite. The school was then accredited and renamed as Nuestra Señora de Guia Parochial School. At the end of the school year 1997-1998, the first elementary graduation rite was held for the first batch of Grade 6 students. The school managed to survive by becoming faithful to its mission on evangelization, and continued in giving quality Catholic education in Magallanes, Cavite until the following years.

Alain Manalo, the superintendent of the Diocesan schools, Bishop Reynaldo Evangelista held the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of additional floors and facilities in the high school building for the opening of senior high school. At present, the school is now ready to offer basic education from Kinder to Grade 12.

Since then, De Guia Academy of Magallanes, Inc. has been producing humble yet globally competitive graduates who are engaged in different apostolic activities and variety of co-curricular activities that help them become responsible citizens, Christ-centered individuals, and servant-leaders in our community.

At present, DGA is offering Enhanced and Enriched Basic Education starting from Pre-Kinder up to Grade 11 in Senior High School. For Senior High School, all strands in Academic Track is permitted by the government to be offered by the school. However, the school opted to offer only STEM, ABM and HUMSS.

With the help of Nuestra Señora de Guia, the school remains committed in evangelization by providing Christian and relevant Catholic education, to develop all the stakeholders to their fullest potentials, and for the school to become a haven for the poor and needy with big dreams in life.
