DGA community faces typhoon Paeng, initiates donation drive for victims
October 29, 2022
Last October 28, 2022, De Guia Academy of Magallanes, Inc. (DGA) faced the impact of severe tropical storm “Paeng”. Nevertheless, while school administrators worried about the strong winds and heavy rains from the typhoon, DGA employees, students, and parents reported that they were all safe at home.
DGA principal Armand G. Gallardo instructed maintenance personnel to check the condition of the school’s facilities. In particular, the leaves from the nearby acacia tree of the municipal plaza which fell on the school’s rooftop and impeded water drainage, were removed by personnel to prevent damage from the typhoon.
Last October 29, 2022, the Magallanes Chapter of the DGA Caritas Group, headed by their adviser Mrs. Kyra May Leopardo, initiated a donation drive of relief goods and food items for victims of typhoon Paeng. After securing that no one had been greatly affected, students from the Caritas Group posted the announcement for their donation drive via the DGA Caritas—Magallanes Chapter Facebook page.
Solicited goods, gathered from DGA students and other stakeholders, are to be donated to the Holy Cross Parish at Poblacion, Noveleta City, via parish priest Rev. Fr. Omer Dendiego. “Truly, one way of giving glory to God is helping others who are in need. (Our) mission remains as one DICES family, as one Magalleno and De Guian community, in this time of crisis,” said Mr. Gallardo.
